Training Opportunities Tailored to your Needs
REST’s professionally designed “Train-the-Trainer” course provides specialized education to those who will then go out and train individuals to be respite care workers, called REST Companions™.
Representatives from religious and healthcare organizations, volunteer organizations, senior living facilities, schools or other groups are eligible to receive this training and then share this education among their own communities.
REST programs can be customized around your organization’s requirements, and provided at your facility or an off-site location. This two-day training is presented in an interactive format. For example, a series of experiential learning techniques are used to allow participants to put themselves into the care receiver’s shoes, so they start to understand how to communicate with someone who might be having some difficulty or to understand different behaviors. This format allows participants to dive in and get the full experience. Participants meet classroom style and in small-groups to cover all subject matter.
All materials and follow-up resources are provided.
“The Train-the-Trainer program ensures the most widespread impact because I am able to hold a training class whenever my volunteers might need it or when I need to present the training I don’t have to schedule it with another agency. I am equipped to present the training so I can offer it whenever we need to.”
