Pearle provides a safe and enriching environment for the caregivers and care receivers she serves. One of the extra things Pearle does is surprise them on birthdays and holidays by bringing singers and musicians to their homes.

“A widower told me how her visits enable him to cope better with his health condition because of the joy she brings into the home,” said Susan Haas, executive director and CEO of the Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), through which Pearle volunteers.

The Nevada Caregivers Coalition recently honored Pearle as Volunteer Caregiver of the Year, during the 11th annual Linda Carr Caregiver Awards Recognition Luncheon in Reno, Nev.

“Pearle is always there to step in and care for another family when a substitute respite volunteer is needed,” Haas said. “Her steadfast involvement, and commitment to assisting people, inspire us all.”
